As a new carpentry apprentice from BC, the construction industry had me feeling lost about my place on this career path, angry about the magnitude of waste it produces, and distraught by the emphasis on profit as a bottom line.

Endeavour validated my hopeful longings that there is a better way to build. The Sustainable New Construction course was a hands-on, in-depth learning experience that showed me how, with a bit of consciousness, modern day construction can be a major player in the fight for climate and social justice. The team at Endeavour provides an inclusive, intensive and positive learning environment and teaches to a progressive standard of building skills and science. I loved the technical classroom sessions as much as the on-site building, and the sense of community the class shared was inspiring. That a group of strangers with little to no experience can build one of the most progressive buildings in Canada and have fun doing it is a testament to the work ethic, knowledge and care the instructors at Endeavour facilitate.

I returned to my trade feeling empowered about what I was working towards, and far ahead of my peers and even superiors in terms of my knowledge of building science and natural building practices, which will increasingly be integrated into building code as we move towards a healthier planet. It’s truly hard to express how this education clarified my purpose moving forward. I really can't thank Endeavour enough. Absolutely worth the time and investment.
