Habitat for Humanity house- 2010

The Habitat for Humanity house was designed by Chris Magwood and Jen Feigin for the Peterborough and District Habitat for Humanity affiliate, and built by the students at Fleming College’s sustainable building program in 2010.

Located in a north end suburb of Peterborough, Ontario, this building created a new three bedroom home for a deserving family of four. The building was built to a LEED Platinum certification and was the winner of the Peterborough and Kawartha Home Builders Association *green award* and the Home Sweet Home Affordable House of the Year award.

Explore the slide show to find out about the building’s prefabricated straw bale wall system, earthen plasters, grid-tied photovoltaics, non-toxic finishes and much more…
